Being Childish

"Every child is born blessed with a vivid imagination. But just as a muscle goes flabby with disuse, so the bright imagination of a child pales in later years if he ceases to exercise it." - Walt Disney

I think one of the biggest reasons Walt never lost his sense of imagination was because he had such a fond grasp of his childhood. So much inspired him, from his creativity and art, to his surroundings, especially the town of Marceline, Missouri.

Listen to this speech he made in his return to Marceline. Can you hear the child in him coming out?

Here's hoping we can all find a way to exercise our imagination more....

Condolences

My deepest condolences go out to the family, friends, and coworkers of Austin Wuennenberg, the 21 year old Monorail pilot whose life was tragically cut short in a fatal Monorail accident at Walt Disney World this past Sunday morning.

No pictures, no video, no speculation here. Just a sincere "I'm sorry."

Thoughts and prayers go with you.

America SIngs

Enjoy this Disneyland classic that was released just in time for America's Bicentennial celebration.

As an added feature see how many "performers" you can place in their new home, Splash Mountain!

The Liberty Tree

One of my favorite books of all time happens to be Johnny Tremain by Esther Forbes. For a great fictional read on Colonial life right before the American Revolution, I cannot recommend it enough, even if it is a book usually found in the young adut section of book stores.

The Disney version does not do the book justice - way more within the story needs to be told. However, "The Liberty Tree" is a great song from the movie, and I couldn't think of a better time than Independence Day weekend to share. Enjoy!!!

Help With The Effort

For today, here's a couple Disney made shorts from World War Two to help support the war effort.

The New Spirit, in particular, seems to be rather effective - at least for Donald....

Patriotism Time

In honor of our country celebrating Independence Day, this weekend I will be posting some patriotic Disney videos, whether it be Videos from Disneyland, WWII era propaganda cartoons, or movie clips. I hope everyone enjoys their holiday weekend - stay safe and remember what we're celebrating!

First up - A little show that was first presented at the 1964 World's Fair, sponsored by the state of Illinois!

And still, I might add, one of my favorites....
